Triumph Spitfire Gearbox Problems. I have recently encountered a problem with the clutch actuation on my 1980 spitfire 1500. Friend has a triumph spitfire , 1300 cc.he does not know a lot but thinks he needs a clutch gearbox.

This sounds clutchy to me. Bell housing, speedo/pinion housing, gear lever, top cover extension & ancillaries. Jack up one rear wheel and place the car in neutral.

I think you will wind up taking the top off and adjusting the positions of both the synchro hubs and the shifter forks to make sure all is in neutral then reassembling the gearbox. Look for signs of overheating:
